Their are a lot of Disaters out their these are the ones I lived through.

I have been watching shows about natural disasters and the effects they have on people. I have personnally lived through two blizzards living in Ohio all my life .I was home not driving around during either blizzard so I had no problem with them .I only left once at the start of the Blizzard to go get my husband at Tru Foto where he worked at the time I had My C. B. it was back in 1978 everyone had a C.B. I drove really slow only had two miles to go had no problems . But at times like this special people seem to come as if from out of nowhere to help stranded people .

In Dayton their where people who had four wheel drive out with C. B.'s out rescuing all kinds of people we just turned opn our C. B. and listened to all of the really good people risking their lives to save other people . These people should be mentioned by Dolls Like Us as special people who deserve the flag of love because they showed love to neighbors as well as strangers.

Blizzard 1956

A birthday wish a father returns safely . It was 1956 and I was to have my fifth birthday we lived in BellBrook Ohio at a house John Delinger played cards at years before . The last truck to go through was the bread truck and it had my birthday cake on it . Dad was at work at National Cash Register at the time Randy was a guard there . It was just mom me and Sandie Johnny was grown and not living at home. A blizzard struck . I won't cut the Birthday Cake some how I kept saying dad was coming home . Guess what Randy Wortman walked and rode on snow plow to get home for my birthday National Cash Register was allowing employees to stay there. Randy, my dad ,left was it stupid yes dangerous we didn't plow back then like we can now . Did it make a little girl happy on her birthday you had better believe it .Was I aware ,of how bad it was, no I was 5 years old and love really is the strongest force on Earth my dad proved it to me one cold snowy.

The Flood

This happened to me before I turned six we moved still living down on a river little miami river to be exact. Dad ,Randy Wortman went to work at National Cash Register Company 45 miles from where we lived . Randy was working the night shift it was raining when he left it rained all night the water rose and rose and rose . We where living in three cabins not even bolted together just set side by side with no foundation . The water was at least 4 or 5 feet tall .

Our mother Ethel Mildred Stephens Wortman was home alone with us mom had a fear of water she watched her father die saving others from drowning she was up all night their where oil barrels hiting the side of the house . All kinds of things were floating in the water and home alone with two children was very scary.She was talking all night we could tell she was scared when morning came dad showed up he came to where he could drive parked he's car and walked and swam to get to the house .Mom fixed him breakfast and dad went looking for a boat Randy owned a boat but couldn't find it . So he broke the lock and took the neighbors dad later returned it . Dad came back to the house and we went down the river in a row boat with mom dad was on theoutside walking the boat the neighbors meet us at the end of the road and we stayed with the people on the top of the hill. these people showed their love for others as did people in New Orleans when they had their flood the biggest damage we had was our jack and jill lineolum carpet was destroyed .
