In ohio right now we have a drought these things are hard on cattle drought cause hay not to grow like it should . Ohio helps out other states by sending its wheat when their is a shortage of wheat in other states.
If drought continues crops will suffer more .
On the local; news recently they showed the corn stalks with the leaves curling in . Then they showed it after the one day of rain we got last week with the leaves opening up .
Soybean crop will be effected to
Ohio usually has a big soybean crop which will be effected if the drought continues . Farmers will lose money .
I have a some one in the family who farms and he says he only makes money every three years the rest of the time it cost him money to farm .
We will need more farmers in the future people need to make money in farming to be able to continue it .
Ban on watering lawns and washing cars
Alot of the state especially the lower part of Montgomery County has a band on watering lawns and washing cars . If you are caught the police show up and cut off your hose for you . I would imagine you also get a ticket so far the people who have been caught have known nothing about the band.
There are fewer and fewer family farms every year
Every year more and more farm land becomes houses and realestate .
I have cousins whose father owned a farm and they sold the land as farm land a developer brought it and put houses all over it the develpoer made alot of money not my cousins they lost money when their dad died and they sold the land .
Fewer and Fewer people want to grow up to become farmers because it is a lot of work and not much money .
Indians use to dance to get rain
Years ago Indians which lived in Ohio use to dance for rain . They would invite all of their family to come and dance for rain . They couldn't get food from another part of the country if their was a shortage of rain the way we can .
America is the bread basket of the world
When I was young America had enough wheat stored up on lake Michigan to feed our country in case of natural disaster .
American food has feed people in every country in the world . We have given away food from our food reserves to our disadvantaged for years . Surplus peanut butter and chees has been given out to the poor .
We have showed up at natural disasters in other countries to feed them in a natural disaster to . The good Americans have done has been showed around the world .
